BOC helps you get a good night’s sleep
A new facility to tackle a range of sleep-related problems has opened in London’s Harley Street. The BOC Sleep Centre, set in the heart of the capital, aims to be a centre of excellence in treating a wide range of sleeping disorders, including snoring and sleep apnoea as well as insomnia, narcolepsy and a host of other issues.
The centre’s Medical Director is Professor Gaby Badre, a Consultant in Sleep Medicine and Clinical Neurosciences. He believes the new, state-of-the-art clinic is ideally placed to meet a growing need. “We are seeing a dramatic increase in sleeping disorders, which can have a detrimental effect on health and wellbeing,” he notes. “These affect people from all walks of life and can have a great impact on their professional performance and quality of life. We offer a multidisciplinary approach to detect and treat these disorders.”
This is the first clinic of its type to be opened in the UK by BOC, a member of The Linde Group. However, other affiliated companies of the Group’s Healthcare division have been providing sleep services for more than 20 years in more than 20 countries across Europe, Asia, Australia and South America.
Veronique McKellican, Business Manager – Homecare, says: “BOC Healthcare specialises in the treatment of respiratory conditions, so we are very proud of this new addition to our healthcare services. The BOC Sleep Centre allows us to provide the best possible care in this growing area of medical practice, building on our experience gained both in the UK and overseas.”

Top Clinics, Diagnosis Suppliers and Unpaid Therapists – A Survey on Obstructive Sleep Apnoea Patient Satisfaction, conducted in October in 2008 by the Patients Organisation Group in the Netherlands, investigated the experiences of patients using continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) equipment, as part of their sleep therapy. It also explored differences in treatment and approach towards patients by home care providers. Almost 5,700 patient responses were analysed. The survey showed that there are big differences in the provision of home care as part of the treatment for sleep apnoea. Care providers were also rated. Linde Healthcare was awarded the highest and most consistent rankings across key aspects of patient care.
