Follow a regular bedtime routine.
Make sure your bedding is comfortable.
Air your bedroom every day.
Avoid heavy evening meals, but avoid going to bed with a completely empty stomach.
Do not drink alcoholic beverages prior to sleep.
Do not have a hot bath before going to bed.
Do not fall asleep in front of the television; this could make it difficult to fall asleep again in bed.
Lose weight if necessary.
Follow a regular, moderate physical exercise regime (but not late in the evening).
Avoid alcohol and sedatives (tranquilizers) as they can aggravate obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome.
